Chennai: A 68-year-old woman was killed after she was marauded by two pet dogs in her house in Avadi on Wednesday.
The victim was identified as M. Gowri (68) of Govardhanagiri in Avadi. She was staying with her husband, Madhavan on the ground floor while her son and daughter-in-law stayed on the first floor, police said.
The family raised two Rottweiler pups, aged 1 and 5 and since they were not friendly with the elderly couple, they were usually kept away from them, either on the first floor or in the terrace.
On Wednesday evening, Gowri went to the terrace unaware of the dogs presence there when she was marauded by them.
The woman was also suffering from a mental condition and hence couldn’t raise alarm, police quoted the victim’s son as saying.
The woman’s face was disfigured and by the time, she was moved to a hospital, she was declared brought dead.
Avadi police registered a case and are investigating.
