Stage set for IT Olympics, robot Sophia to grace event in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Hyderabad is gearing up for the Information Technology Olympics as the stage is set for the World Congress on Information Technology and Nasscom India Leadership Forum 2018 (WCIT-NILF 2018) in the city from February19 to 21, to be held in HICC. Sophia, the first citizen robot, will participate in the event.
An event was convened by Nasscom, World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA), and the TS IT ministry on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, K. T. Rama Rao, IT minister, said, “We are delighted to host yet another international conference to put Hyderabad on the global map.
Nasscom has extended invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the conference. They are awaiting confirmation. This is first time Nasscom is holding a summit outside Mumbai and we are glad that they picked Hyderabad. We have been working with Nasscom for this event”.
There will 2,500 delegates participating in the event from 30 countries. Dr James Poisant, secretary general, WITSA, said, “There were five countries which were competing to host the 2018 conference. We picked India based on the technological trends.”
The event will witness topics on Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, experience age, innovation, new globalisation, future of work and sports and technology, among others.
Specific sessions will focus on the digital revolution and ways in which it is reshaping the world.
About 24 sessions on policy dialogues, new tech deep dives, country sessions, analyst corners, CIO sessions and boardroom CEO sessions will be conducted.
The participants will be thought leaders, industry leaders and government officials. Sadhguru, Isha Foundation, Duncan Warlde of Walt Disney, Soumitra Dutta, Dean of Cornell SC Johnson School of Business, Shantanu Narayen of Adobe, David M. Cote of Honeywell and Naveen Tiwari of InMobi are among the prominent speakers.
Last year, the conference was held in Brazil and next year it is scheduled to be held in Armenia.
