Stage set for first Loka Kerala Sabha meet today
Thiruvananthapuram: Elaborate arrangements are in place for the first meeting of Loka Kerala Sabha here on Friday.
The events will begin with an official announcement regarding the formation of the 351-member forum comprising MLAs, MPs, state ministers, Union ministers representing the state, representatives of NRKs and returnees and eminent Malayalis settled outside.
The chief minister will formally inaugurate the event, which will be followed by region-wise discussions. The main venue of the LKS is the lounge of the Kerala legislative assembly complex and the region-wise sessions on the legislature complex.
A host of cultural events and art installations are organised in the assembly complex as well as various parts of the city. An open forum of seven internationally renowned scientists including M S Swaminathan would be held on Saturday.
Meanwhile, there were allegations regarding the selection of NRK nominees. A prominent NRI businessman who was earlier booked by the Enforcement Directorate on charges of money laundering is among those nominated.
The delay on the part of the state government in publishing the list of nominated members had also invited criticism.
