Hyderabad: Emulating the model followed by private institutions, the Telangana state government is running a pilot project to strengthen the weak areas of students in government schools through technology. This would eventually raise the pass percentage.
It has tied up with a T-Hub start-up Egnify which works on assessing student performance through its platform ACADS.
Start-up founder Kiran Babu told this newspaper: “Through T-Hub we approached the government. The officials observed how we are aiding Sri Chaitanya and other educational institutions to improve learning outcomes and performance of students.”
He said the start-up would will run a pilot programme in about 20 government schools in the city. As part of that, we will be doing student assessment and help teachers understand student performance using analytical reports,” he said.
With the motto to ensure that every child has a good amount of service from the education system, the government picked this home-grown start-up. Most of the schools picked for the project are Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas. The pilot project has been just been launched and the schools would be on board in a month. “This programme will run throughout the year. We give them tools and upload the test results on our platform. We are making their performance measurable and insightful like we have done for other 400 private schools,” he said.
Personalised attention would be given to each student based on his/her strength and weakness. Since the assessments of students were on papers currently, the startup would digitise it.
The start-up also ran a programme, Jeet, for college students who study for competitive exams like IIT, JEE, BITSAT among others.
