N Chandrababu Naidu to raise delimitation
VIJAYAWADA: In the scheduled meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to be held at 10.30 am on Friday at New Delhi, it is expected that there will be a detailed discussion ranging from the delimitation of the constituencies to Polavaram and other political issues. Mr Naidu is likely to raise the issue of the revenue expenditure and deficit, apart from the political rift between the BJP-TD leaders on Polavaram.
According to senior bureaucrats, a committee to be headed by a former Supreme Court judge will be framing the requisite guidelines for delimitation of the Assembly segments, most likely before the second week of February with the entire process expected to be completed before the upcoming Union budget session. The AP Government’s stance in this regard is also likely to come up in the meeting.
As per the Reorganisation Act, the Chief Minister wishes to seek the promised financial assistance from the Centre, which may come up in his meeting with the Prime Minister. In fact, official statistics suggest that an amount of Rs 68,000 crore has been added to the public debt, from 2014 to 2017 October, which is alarming. The debts for the last three years are like this — Rs 19,163 crore in 2014-15, Rs 21,862 crore in 2015-16 and Rs 20,320 crore in 2016-17. This is worrying the state a lot.
