Thrissur police unearths Jishnu's suicide note
Kochi: In a crucial development in the suicide of Jishnu Pranoy, an engineering student at the Nehru Engineering College, Pampady, the Thrissur Rural police on Wednesday unearthed what is suspected to be the victim's suicide note.
Police claimed that they also got a leave letter from the toilet. In the letter his name was written. The police team took statements from hostel warden and students. They also conducted an inspection at the examination hall.
However, Jishnu's relatives rejected the claims made by the police. They said the suicide note was a story cooked-up by the management to save its face.
Parents of Jishnu meanwhile petitioned Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan seeking fair probe into the case.
“We found a suicide note from the drain near the toilet where Jishnu committed suicide. We need to confirm whether it is written by Jishnu. To prove genuineness, the letter would be sent to Forensic Science Lab and to a handwriting expert," Thrissur Rural Police said.
"I Quit. My life is a waste. I lost my dreams. I lost my life," (sic) was written in the note, police said. “‘I quit’ was mentioned so we will have to conduct a detailed investigation to find why he took a decision to end his life,” the police added.
With this the cops will have to widen the investigation and find whether the management harassed Jishnu as alleged by his classmates and relatives. At present the cops have registered an FIR under Section 174 CrPC.
The college management on Wednesday filed a fresh petition against students and SFI and KSU activists for damaging it property.
The cops have suo motu registered a case on Monday after the protest march turned violent.
