Hyderabad: The Telangana state government on Wednesday signed a MoU with the ministry of civil aviation and the Airports Authority of India for a regional connectivity scheme to set up new airports in the state.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Union civil aviation minister P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju and TS industries minister K.T. Rama Rao in New Delhi. Mr Rama Rao urged the Centre to allow the state government set up a training academy and skill development centre at the Begumpet airport.
He thanked the Centre for granting approval to the new airport at Khammam and sought approvals for the proposed Warangal and Adilabad airports. Mr Rama Rao also met Union industries minister Anant Geete and sought the reopening of the Cement Corporation of India plant in Adilabad.
The TS industries minister met Union textiles minister Smriti Irani and sought financial assistance for the proposed integrated textile park in Warangal.
Later, Mr Rama Rao met Union finance secretary Ashok Lavasa and NITI-Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant and sought more funds in the general Budget for various projects and schemes implemented by the Telangana state government such as a mega powerloom cluster in Siricilla and a Rs 20,000 crore aid recommended by NITI-Aayog to Mission Bhagiratha and Mission Kakatiya.
