New MNREGS job cards in 3 colours; special security features included
Khammam: Those who have registered their names under MNREGS will get the new job card with special security features within 10 days. Personal details of the labourers will be given in the new card, which will be issued in three colours including green, light blue and blue.
The new card will have 52 pages against 32 pages for the present card. The cards of the labourers, who had not used them for the last three years, will be kept apart. The labourers should give all the details of their family members and their photos to MNREGS supervisors, officials said on Wednesday.
The green card is meant for tribals, light blue for otherwise able-bodied men and blue for others. Special stress will be on providing employment to adivasis. The changes are being made to implement the 100-day employment guarantee scheme a year in best possible ways. Those who have cards in more than one place will now have only one card, and in one place only.
The government will make all the payments through banks. Thousands of girls who had job cards had got married, left their native villages and settled in the localities of their husbands. These women will be given work in their new villages.
There are 2.12 lakh job cards in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district and 5.45 in Khammam district. There is a plan to engage these workers in horticulture development in the two districts. Impersonation will not be possible with the new job card; and the person, in whose name the card was issued, has to attend to the works.
An official said, “All the details such as how many persons are facing unemployment, the working manner of the MNREGS and the migration of workers will be known now.”
