India lagging behind in patent rights: Expert
Visakhapatnam: Innovations can spur growth and development in India, said NITI-Aayog senior adviser C. Murali Krishna. On Wednesday, Mr. Murali Krishna participated in a symposium on “Innovation and Digitalisation in India” in the Andhra University Engineering College principal’s conference hall.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Krishna said that the number of innovations and patent rights is very few in India. “India stands at 66th position in the world in getting patent rights. Among the BRICS countries, we occupy the third place. The universities have to take a proactive role in the country getting more patent rights. Switzerland, Sweden, England, America, Finland, Singapore, etc. lead the chart with more patent rights. If technology is coupled with innovation, country’s growth rate can be increased manifold,” Mr. Murali Krishna said.
Andhra University Vice-Chancellor Prof. G. Nageswara Rao said that it’s time to utilise the infrastructural, natural and human resources of the country.
“We have been giving priority to the innovative ideas and research at AU,” he said.
On this occasion, Prof. Nageswara Rao felicitated Mr. Murali Krishna.
