Hyderabad: A 40-year-old restaurant employee was beaten to death by his friend at Falaknuma. The body of Md. Zubair was found inside a room near the Zaitoon Restaurant, where he was working.
Police said the suspect, Mohammed Siddique, had hit the victim with a stick and bricks on the head. Police suspects that Siddique had a grudge against Zubair, as he had not returned some household articles he had borrowed. Both were drunk, police said.
“Zubair lives in a room adjacent to the hotel where he was working. Siddique also used to stay there often. On Tuesday night, both got drunk and started a fight over a petty matter. It looks like Siddique hit the victim several times with bricks on the head as it was found crushed,” said a police official from Falaknuma.
Siddique fled from the spot after the murder, police said. Restaurant employees found the body in the morning and informed the cops.
Police found that both the suspect and the victim were friends. Siddique had given Zubair some household articles a few months back. He had asked Zubair to return them recently, but he was not ready to do so. This had led to arguments between them earlier, restaurant employees told the police.
Police booked a case and took Siddique into custody.
