Commuters want more Mysuru trains after 7 pm

The train earlier departed from the station at 7 pm.

Bengaluru: People travelling by train to Mysuru have been inconvenienced over the last few days as the South Western Railway recently changed the schedule of Karwar-Kannur (No 16523/16517) train, which was daily earlier, to twice-a-week. The train earlier departed from the station at 7 pm. With its rescheduling, there are no trains leaving for Mysuru from Bengaluru after 7 pm.

“We used to travel on Karwar/Kannur Express every day as it was the only train available to Mysuru at that time. But without reason, the train has been cancelled and it now operates only two days a week. We are forced to take buses which are very expensive. We have railway passes, but they are of no use now for the return journey,” Mr Rakesh R., a regular railway commuter, told Deccan Chronicle.

The only train after 7 pm is a passenger that leaves the station at 11 pm. Commuters now demand that Karwar-Kannur Express should be operated every day again and Chennai-Bengaluru Intercity Express (No: 12609/10) should be extended till Mysuru. The Intercity Express departs Chennai at 1.30 pm and reaches Bengaluru KSR station 8.05 pm. If the train is extended, the train can reach Mysuru by 10.30 pm, they said.

A senior SWR official said, “We already have 14 trains that operate every day between the two cities. If the people are facing a problem with timings, they can give a request to SWR and then we will take a decision.”
