Smart work continues in Kakinada city
Kakinada: Kakinada Smart City Corporation Limited (KSCCL) is expediting work on smart city projects, especially ‘Integrated ICT Solutions for Smart City Kakinada’ to strengthen communication between city officials and citizens of Kakinada. As part of the Smart City Project, several pan-city and area-based development initiatives have been envisaged with a focus on both infrastructure and ICT advancements.
The Smart City related ICT solutions include Command Control Center, CCTV surveillance, WiFi, automatic number plate recognition, face detection and waste and disaster management among other platforms. It seeks to bring together many technologies like alo T Platform, LoRa-based citywide wireless sensor network and disaster management systems. “Most of the works at the Command Control Center has been completed. Efforts are being made now to complete work before December 19 for inauguration by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu who is expected to attend Kakinada Beach Festival,” said Chief Executive Officer of KSCCL J. Sujay Arun.
He said that Command and Communication Centre, Data Centre, Disaster Recovery Centre, Network Operation Centre, Optical Fibre cable (120KM City backbone Network) LoRa Network, Internet WiFi Network, CC TV surveillance system, smart street lighting system, smart poles, automatic vehicles, location system, automatic number plate recognition, red light violation detectors, facial recognition system, environment sensors with public display units, citizens help desk, IP based public address system, emergency call box and variable messaging display and smart parking and others are the important components of the Smart City works.”He said that some of the work has been completed and in trail run. He said that many of the cities in the country were doing the fibre cable work on lease, but in Kakinda, the fibre cable is being laid on its own.
