Anantapur: Anantapur municipal corporation authorities initiated steps to update parks in the city limits by setting up gyms to encourage people to opt for healthy life. Presently, parks are being used by walkers. Rajiv Children Park located in AP Housing Board Colony was one of the biggest parks in the city which has been stage for hundreds of morning and evening walkers everyday.
AMC mayor Madamanchi Swaroopa said that the corporation was establishing a gym with all the facilities to encourage people to avail the facility. "We are setting up two gyms each for men and women separately in the Rajiv Children Park premises", Ms Swaroopa briefed and further added the main parks are being set up with gyms in the city.
Venugopal, teacher who is walker in the park expressed that a gym facility would be more helpful to public. "Public is using the walkers' tract existing in the Rajiv Children Park and with establishment of gyms will attract more people," he said. Presently, the municipal corporation was running a gym at Municipal Park near district rural development agency office. Many expressed that establishment of gyms in parks would be of great benefit.
