SFI and its allies win UoH student polls in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The Students' Federation of India (SFI) on Friday won the students' union elections at the University of Hyderabad. Some of the key posts were won by candidates representing an alliance with Ambedkar Students Association (ASA) and Tribal Students Federation (TSF).

SFI candidate Mohammad Ateeq Ahmed was elected president, over ABVP candidate Sheik Ayesha by 471 votes. Ahmed polled 1,880 votes.

Jalli Akash (ASA-SFI) was elected vice president with 1,671 votes, beating ABVP candidate Tarun with 1,283 votes.

In the race for general secretary, Deepak Kumar Arya (ASA-SFI) got 1,765 votes, defeating ABVP’s candidate Rajesh Palla, who received 1,285 votes.

Lavudi Bala Anjaneyulu (SFI-TSF) won the assistant general secretary position with 1,775 votes, outperforming the ABVP’s Rathod Vasant Kumar, who received 1,134 votes.

Shamim Akter Sheik (ASA-SFI), who got 1,656 votes, defeated Antony Basumatary for the cultural secretary position. Athul, the SFI candidate, was voted sports secretary with 1,642 votes over the ABVP candidate Jwala Prasad with 1406 votes.

Nandan Palakil and K. Pooja (SFI) secured victories in the GS Cash Integrated and GS Cash (PG) respectively, while Soumya Kepi and Pavan emerged victorious for the GS Cash (Research) from SFI.
