HC hears Vundavalli's plea to hand over AP skill scam case for CBI probe

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh High Court held a hearing on a plea filed by former MP Vundavalli Aruna Kumar for the transfer of the case filed by AP CID in the AP skill development scam to CBI and adjourned the case for the next hearing to November 29.

A division bench comprising Justices U. Durga Prasada Rao and Justice Manava Kiranmaee heard the petition here on Friday.

Petitioner Aruna Kumar’s counsel K. G. Krishna Murthy submitted that the court issued a direction to send notices to the respondents in the case on October 13, and the registry sent them on November 9. He submitted to the court to initiate action for delay in sending notices to the respondents. Accordingly, the court directed the registrar to find out the reasons for the delay and initiate action against the responsible persons.

The court issued directions to send notices to the state government and AP CID and adjourned the case.

Earlier, advocate general S. Sriram, representing the AP government, submitted that the state government had set up a cabinet sub-committee and also a special investigation team to review the decisions taken on various policy matters by the previous TD government, and the state government prayed the court to hand over the probe in the case to the CBI and also make Centre a respondent in the case in the course of the hearing. He submitted that a single judge bench refused to make Centre the respondent in the case and also issued a stay order on the SIT inquiry.
