Women's Cooperative Society wants Lagadapati Rajagopal's arrest
Hyderabad: The original members of Women’s Cooperative Housing Society, Banjara Hills, demanded that Congress MP and industrialist Lagadapati Rajagopal be arrested for trying to obstruct the police from discharging their duty.
Mr Rajagopal, has been accused of obstructing the Banjara Hills police from custodial interrogation of Godi Pittchi Reddy, an accused in the Women’s Cooperative Society land grabbing case. Drama ensued when Mr Rajagopal claimed to be a friend of G.P. Reddy and barged into his house, blocked the police and demanded a search warrant although the police had been ordered to arrest him.
“Mr Rajagopal should be booked under Section 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) of IPC. G.P. Reddy has been involved in the land scam and has been on the run for some time. The police is acting on the order of the court and has the right to arrest him for custodial interrogation. Mr Rajagopal’s demand for a warrant stands invalid as the police doesn’t need a warrant to search his residence,” said Mr Krishna Reddy, a member of the society.
Members revealed that when a complaint was filed in 2016 in connection with the land scam, the name of G.P. Reddy surfaced during interrogation. In the multi-crore scam involving property measuring 3 acres and 13 guntas located in Survey No 129/ 30 on Banjara Hills Road No. 12, two different parties had forged documents and fraudulently sold land.
