TN CM slams Naidu, Stalin, calls them chameleons
Chennai: Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami lashed out at TDP supremo and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and DMK chief M. K. Stalin for attempting to forge an opportunistic alliance and said "they both change colours like a chameleon."
Wondering if they were really concerned about the people's well-being, the CM sought to know if they discussed anything concerning the people of Tamil Nadu during their meeting (in Chennai at Stalin's Alwarpet residence on Friday). "While Chandrababu Naidu, after enjoying ties with the BJP government for four-and-a-half years, breaks to forge an opportunistic alliance ahead of the Lok Sabha election, and changes his stand like a chameleon changes colour, the DMK, which once aligned with the BJP and shared power, now suddenly finds that party to be communal. And like a chameleon the DMK too changed its colours now," Mr. Palaniswami said.
Speaking to reporters at Coimbatore airport on Saturday he said both Chandrababu and Stalin lacked principles. If the DMK president had conscience and love and affection for the people of Tamil Nadu he would have raised the issue of the AP government constructing 20 check dams across the Palar river, thus virtually denying the northern districts of Tamil Nadu the precious water and allowing the TN districts to become deserts.
To a question on 18 disqualified MLAs and their protest to flag 'non-development' of their Assembly segments, the Chief Minister blamed them for the setback in their constituencies. However, welfare schemes were being implemented in all the constituencies, he said.
Mr. Palaniswami said the DMK failed to provide evidence against ministers against whom it had levelled corruption charges. He wondered why the DMK had sought a stay from court in connection with the Omandurar Secretariat case, pertaining to alleged irregularities its construction during the previous DMK rule, if it had nothing to fear.
