Tamil Nadu: Two businessmen under I-T radar

The Income-Tax (I-T) raids continued for the second day on the houses and offices of two businessmen.

COIMBATORE: The Income-Tax (I-T) raids continued for the second day on the houses and offices of two businessmen, Arumugasamy and Sajeevan in Coimbatore. The I-T personnel raided seven locations in Coimbatore on Thursday and zeroed in on two businessmen who are close to the sidelined AIADMK leader T T V Dhinakaran. They raided their houses, three offices and shops and the raid continued till Thursday midnight.

A team of income tax officials continued the raid on Friday on the house of Arumugasamy near Race course and his office near Ram Nagar, functioning in the name of the Senthil group of companies. Sources said that Arumugasamy took care of the construction works done at the Kodanad estate bungalow belonging to former Chief Minister, J. Jayalalithaa. Another three teams searched the house, shops and godown at Podanur and R.S. Puram of timber businessman Sajeevan who is believed to have done the entire furnishing work at the Kodanad estate. However, I-T officials refused to disclose information about the recoveries made.
