Supreme Court to hear PIL on notes on November 15
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday agreed to hear on November 15 two public interest writ petitions alleging that all sections of people across the country are facing extreme hardship due to the demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes and seeking to suspend the RBI’s notification in this regard.
Meanwhile, the Centre filed a caveat in the apex court to ensure that no orders are passed in the PILs without hearing the Union government.
Petitioners Vivek Narain Sharma and Sangam Lal Pandey said they are not against the scheme of phasing out of specified bank notes, but against the manner of its implementation as provided in the said Notification, which has created panic and emergency like situation all around India, be it metropolitan city, towns and villages etc.
