Set deadline on Building Regularisation Scheme: Hyderabad HC to GHMC

Counsel appearing for the GHMC sought four weeks to place the relevant information with regard to process of applications for the scheme.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court has directed the GHMC to submit a time schedule for rejection and process of applications under the Building Regularisation Scheme by Tuesday.

A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice A. Shankar Narayana was dealing with a petition by Forum for Better Hyderabad challenging the scheme introduced by the TS government to regularise unauthorised constructions and buildings in the state.

When the petition came up for hearing, counsel appearing for the GHMC sought four weeks to place the relevant information with regard to process of applications for the scheme.

Sivaraju Srinivas, counsel for the petitioner, brought to the notice of the court that the bench had on October 18, 2016 partly modified its earlier interim orders granted in the petition by permitting the GHMC to process non eligible applications under the Building Regularisation and pass final orders and take steps for demolition of such structures in accordance with law.

Reacting to the submissions, the bench pointed out that how long the GHMC will sit on the applications without segregating the eligible and non-eligible structures.
Refusing to grant four weeks, the bench directed the GHMC to file a schedule informing the time it requires for identification of applications filed within the prescribed time. The bench also directed the GHMC specify the time required to pass final orders.
