Madras High Court lauds demonetisation, says will bring permanent happiness
Madurai: The Madurai Bench of Madras High Court on Thursday observed that the Central government has taken a policy decision to demonetise the currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 to bring permanent happiness to the people.
“The struggle faced by people now due to this decision is only temporary. It was not an individual decision made suddenly, it was a joint effort taken by the government after considering various polices for the welfare of the nation,” said Justice S. Nagamuthu.
Dismissing the PIL filed by M. Seeni Ahamed, State general secretary of Indian National League, challenging the notification issued by the government to demonetise the currency notes on Wednesday and also sought to issue direction to the Centre to declare the notes valid until December 31, the division bench said the government had taken these measures to root out the menace of black money, corruption and fake currency, to protect the nation from terrorists and for economic development.
