BSF recovers bombs dumped in Odisha forests, foil major attack plan

BHUBANESWAR: The Border Security Force (BSF) personnel on Tuesday recovered bombs dumped in a forest in Odisha’s Malkangiri district, thus averting a major explosion during an anti-Maoist operation.

The explosives were randomly placed underground reportedly by Maoists to cause extensive casualty at Kamarguda forest under Padia police limits in Left Wing Extremism (LWE)-affected region.

According to reports, the BSF 142 Battalion personnel found five powerful improvised explosive devices (IEDs) during a combing operation at the forest in Malkangiri and successfully defused the bombs to avert a major Maoist menace in the district.
