Hyderabad: Malnourished baby girl found buried in park
Hyderabad: A one-month-old baby girl was found buried on the roadside near HUDA Park in Rajendranagar on Wednesday.
The police suspect that the baby had died of starvation and have sent the body for postmortem examination.
Rajendranagar inspector G. Suresh said that at around 8 am on Wednesday, the employees of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), who were sweeping the roads, found the baby wrapped in a cloth and buried on the roadside with a heap of garbage dumped on it.
They then immediately alerted the police.
“On inspecting the scene, it was found that the baby aged about one month, was buried after death. It looked like the girl child had died due to starvation or some other health complications. The body has been sent for autopsy at Osmania General Hospital,” said Inspector Suresh.
He said that a case has been registered under section 318 of IPC (Whoever, by secretly burying or disposing off the dead body of a child shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to two years, or with fine, or with both) and a team is verifying the footage of the CCTV cameras installed in the vicinity to identify the persons who abandoned the body.
