Hyderabad: Industries minister K.T. Rama Rao tried to allay the concerns and fears of locals and activists about the proposed Pharma City at Mucherla on the city’s outskirts by saying that the government is addressing all concerns about pollution, compensation, and local employment.
With the public hearing on the Pharma City project to be held on Wednesday, the Telangana government is trying hard to convince the public through a media meet organised on Tuesday, that the project is environmentally-sound and will not adversely affect the local villagers who will be displaced in favour of pharmaceutical companies.
Mr Rama Rao said that the 19,333 acre pharma park will be free from any type of pollution.
“In these two years, I and officials have visited noted pharma parks in Singapore, China, US, UK, Belgium, Germany etc. to study best practices on effluent treatment plants (ETP), solid and liquid waste management. We will be building a comprehensive ETP mechanism with the best technology and international expertise. The cluster will be a zero liquid discharge facility,” he stressed.
