RTC buses stuck in swirling Koduru water waters

The villagers rushed to the spot and rescued passengers from the two buses using ropes to reach safely from the heavy flowing channel.

ANANTAPUR: Two Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) buses got stuck in the overflowing channel in Koduru of Yerragunta mandal in Kadapa district while attempting to cross the heavy flowing channel at Kodur village.

They were, however, unable to move forward and reach the other end and were stranded in the middle. People from nearby fields of Kodur village were alerted by the passengers in the buses over phone who in turn called the Yerragunta police for rescue measures.

The villagers rushed to the spot and rescued passengers from the two buses using ropes to reach safely from the heavy flowing channel.

The buses were later pulled out of the water with the help of tractors. Heavy rains continued to lash Kadapa district as Simhadripuram mandal and recorded 16 cms rainfall since Monday.

This was highest rainfall reported in Kadapa district during the past few years. About 12.2 cms of rainfall was recorded in Muddanur mandal and 11.5 cms in Kondapuram mandal.

Chinnapalle village in Kondapuram was inundated and road access was cut with the village after Thimmapuram tank was over flowing. Simhadripuram BC colony was inundated.
