Agri gold case: 35 counters for verification

Those who have not registered with the website can now register and seek a fresh date, D. Nagendra Kumar said.

Visakhapatnam: The city police will set up over 35 counters across the city from October 12 for a minimum period of about 20 days to physically verify all the victims who have registered in the CID website, pertaining to Agri Gold case.

Joint commissioner of police D. Nagendra Kumar told the media that the number of victims in the Agri Gold deposit scam is around 20 lakh and about 9 lakh pertaining to AP has registered with the website. About 65,000 out of 9 lakh are from Vizag, he said. The duped depositors who have registered in the website will have to approach the designated counter on the date specified with the original copies of their bank passbook, Aadhaar Card, original recipient and original bond given by Agri Gold.

Those who have not registered with the website can now register and seek a fresh date, he added. Similarly in Vizag district, 56,000 victims have registered their names and they have to visit the respective police stations in the 34 mandals in the district. Vizag Rural police chief Rahul Dev Sharma said that the counters open from October 12.
