Hyderabad: A 100 days have passed after the tragic road mishap at Banjara Hills in which little Ramya and two of her relatives were killed, but the city police has not yet filed a charge sheet. As per standard practice, the investigating police officials should file a charge sheet within 90 days of the mishap. Five-year-old P. Ramya’s parents ask why the police is going slow in the case when an enormous amount of evidence.
Meanwhile, the drunk driver, who caused the mishap, came out on bail on October 3 as the charge sheet was not filed by cops. The investigation officials from Banjara Hills police station said the probe is not yet over in the case and that is the reason why they were not filing a charge sheet.
“We do not understand why the police is not filing a charge sheet in this case. They have got CCTV footages, confessional statement of the culprits and other evidence. Why are they saying that there is a delay in the investigation? This case is one of the biggest in the city. Even then the cops are going slow,” said Ramya’s father P. Venkat Ramana. He has approached police commissioner M. Mahender Reddy and submitted a complaint on the issue.
The investigation official, Banjara Hills police inspector K. Srinivas, said that they were “waiting for expert opinion. The CCTV footage of the mishap has been sent to the forensic lab for examination. We are waiting for their opinion. Till then, we cannot file the charge sheet,” said the inspector.
Meanwhile, road mishap victim Sanjana's condition still remains critical with no sign of improvement. Her family who has been told to expect the worst is shocked that the police has not done any follow-up on the FIR against the drunk driver. Ramya's father Venkat Ramana said that injustice might be done in Sanjana's case too.
