TD Bandh: Public life uninterrupted in Kurnool and Nandyal

In Nandyal, former minister Bhuma Akhila Priya was put under house arrest in Allagadda

Kurnool: The bandh called by Telugu Desam Party in Kurnool and Nandyal districts on Monday, following the arrest and remand of Telugu Desam chief N Chandrababu Naidu, had no impact on public life. Despite the preventive measures taken by the police, including the house arrest of key leaders, public activity continued normally. Public transport, schools, offices, hotels, and commercial establishments operated without disruption in the city.

In Kurnool, several Telugu Desam leaders, including former Union Minister Kotla Jaya Surya Prakash Reddy, state general secretary Somisetty Venkateswarlu, parliament segment in-charge and MLC BT Naidu, were placed under house arrest. Similarly, in Nandyal, former minister Bhuma Akhila Priya was put under house arrest in Allagadda, and former legislator Bhuma Brahmananda Reddy was taken into custody during a protest in the city.

The police in both districts warned that they would take strict action against anyone attempting to enforce the bandh, citing Section 30(4) of the Police Act. Police forces were stationed at important junctions in Kurnool and Nandyal to respond swiftly to any potential disruptions, but the districts remained largely unaffected. RTC bus services continued to operate as usual.
