GHMC gears up for Visarjan

The civic body has constituted a ‘Ganesh Action Team’ for every three kilometres.

Hyderabad: The GHMC has made elaborate arrangements for Visarjan in the city on September 12.

Mayor Bonthu Rammohan on Tuesday said that apart from regular sanitation teams, the civic body has constituted a ‘Ganesh Action Team’ for every three kilometres. Each team will consist of a sanitary supervisor, three sanitary field assistants and would work in three shifts. The teams include 719 sanitary field assistants, 481 sanitary supervisors and 9,849 sanitation workers, the mayor said.

He added that about 90 static cranes and 134 mobile cranes would be provided for the immersion. The mayor stated that apart from Hussainsagar, the civic body has made arrangements at 32 places for immersion and a budget of `20 crore has been allocated for the same. He said that the GHMC has arranged 92 mobile toilets and 27 medical camps, a fleet of 114 vehicles to lift about 41 tonnes of waste, 14 JCBs and 25-tonne vehicles.

Mr Rammohan said that directions had been given to the electricity department for uninterrupted power supply. The corporation’s electricity wing will install 36,674 temporary lights at a cost of `99.41 lakh. “This apart, 15 water proof tents, 75 generators, 115 water camps, 36 fire brigadiers, seven boats and four speed boats will be deployed,” he added.
