No place in CPM for abusers: MA Baby
The CPM leader said the second complaint pertaining to the nun of Kuravilangad convent was serious.

Thiruvananthapuram: CPM politburo member M.A. Baby said the party would hand over the young comrade's complaint against P.K. Sasi, MLA, to police if she desired.
Baby said if the woman decided to file a complaint with the police the party and government would extend all support to her. If the party is apprised of the need for police intervention and if the young comrade gave her consent, the complaint will be definitely handed over to cops.
He said the party would take a decision keeping in with its position that complaint filed by women should be dealt with seriously. But it is also party' responsibility to protect her privacy.
"There is no place in CPM for those who sexually abuse women, that is for sure," he said in a Facebook post.
Listing out the decisions taken by party to deal with the issue, Baby said even in the midst of flood havoc state secretary Koidyeri Balakrishnan spoke to MLA and the woman.
Party central committee members A.K. Balan and P. K. Sreemathy had asked to inquire into the matter. Balan has stated that the inquiry report would be submitted soon.
The CPM leader said the second complaint pertaining to the nun of Kuravilangad convent was serious. She has accused Jalandhar Bishop Franco Mulakkal of repeatedly abusing her sexually.
"Since last two days a section of nuns who are her colleagues have launched an unprecedented satyagraha in Ernakulam demanding justice. I expect the police to take required action on this issue," he said.
"I am sure the Left Democratic Front government will not yield to any kind of compromise on this issue. But the Catholic Church has taken a defiant stand. They are not ready to protect a nun who has dedicated her entire life to Church. They are turning a blind eye to her complaint; he said and urged the Church to reconsider its male chauvinistic stand. " I expect Pope Francis to intervene and take strong stand on the matter."
