Hyderabad: Convicts not Indian Mujahideen members
Hyderabad: The second additional metropolitan sessions court judge (in-charge) T. Srinivas Rao who convicted Aneeq Shafiq Sayyed and Mohammed Akbar Ismail Choudhary on the charges of murder, conspiracy and involving in unlawful activities, had not found them guilty of being a part of the terror group Indian Mujahideen.
The court observed that the Aneeq and Ismail were not part of the Indian Mujahideen, established by Riyaz Bhatkal, who had sketched the twin blasts of 2007 and also the twin blasts of 2013.
The prosecution could not prove the charges that the duo was part of IM, the court said.
Speaking to this newspaper, special public prosecutor K. Surender said, “The court did not find them guilty of being members of the terror group, Indian Mujahideen, but it observed that they formed as group along with others and executed the blasts. The judge said that the prosecution could not prove the charges that they were part of IM.”
