GHMC yet to submit expenses incurred for SRDP
HYDERABAD: The GHMC is yet to notify the actual expenditure incurred for the Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP), though works worth Rs 2,631 crore have been grounded. Despite repeated requests, engineers at the ground level have not submitted expenditure incurred for land acquisition, civil work, utility shifting and compensation paid for private properties. The civic body has only been submitting rough estimates to the government regarding the money spent on skyways, grade separators and underpasses. The GHMC has now asked the engineering department to submit the actual expenditure.
Sources said the corporation had given an ultimatum to the engineers to submit the expenditure details in April, but it was not done. Under SRDP, the corporation will construct seven skyways, develop 11 major and 68 minor corridors and 54 grade separators at an estimated cost of Rs 25,000 crore. Barring the KBR junction, the corporation has done ground work at several junctions and completed the tender process for all future work.
A senior GHMC official, on condition of anonymity, said that the corporation has been repeatedly requesting for the expenditure details in order to explain the progress to the higher authorities and the state government. “As of now, with information from a few engineers who have been assigned to supervise the project, we have arrived at a figure of Rs 610.28 crore,” the official said. The civic body wants to conduct a review meeting before submitting the expenditure details, the engineers submit it, to the government.
