Chennai: Police recovered the bodies of two missing teenagers from Bheemanthangal lake in Sriperumbudur on Monday afternoon. The deceased boys were identified as G. Mohesh (16) of Mambakkam and S.Jagath Selvan (16) of Mahatma Gandhi Nagar in Sriperumbudur. Both were class 11 students in a private school.
According to police on Sunday afternoon, Mohesh and his friend Jagath had gone to take to take bath in Bheemanthangal lake near their house when the incident happened.
When even after hours passed, the boys did not return home, Mohesh’s parents lodged a complaint at Sriperumbudur police station.
Sriperumbudur police personnel rushed to the area along with rescue team from the Tamil Nadu fire and rescue services. After searching for over two hours, the boys couldn’t be spotted after which the rescue efforts were called off due to darkness.
Meanwhile, on Monday morning one of the boy’s bodies was recovered from the lake by the police team and in the afternoon, the other body was also recovered.
Police told that the boys got stuck in the mud deep inside the lake, from which they could not escape.
