Bengaluru: Four-year-old girl drowns in open sump

The girl, Amruta, daughter of Anjaneya, a daily wage worker, was playing outside the shed and unknowingly walked towards the sump.

Bengaluru: A four-year-old girl died after falling into an open sump dug at an under construction site in Muneshwari Layout on Saturday night. The girl was living with her parents in a shed near the under construction building where they were working.

The girl, Amruta, daughter of Anjaneya, a daily wage worker, was playing outside the shed and unknowingly walked towards the sump. As it was dark, she fell into it and drowned.

The deceased's parents, who were unaware of their daughter's death, started searching for her when she did not return even after hours. After some time, they found Amruta's body floating in the sump.

The family, which hails from Andhra Pradesh, moved to Bengaluru six months ago. Both husband and wife were working at this building belonging to Pratap Reddy and were living in a shed on the building premises.

A case of death due to negligence has been filed against Reddy.
