Vinayakasagar open for immersions from September 10
Hyderabad: The Vinayakasagar next to Sanjeevaiah Park on Necklace road has been thrown open to the public for immersions from September 10 onwards. The pond has been filled with recycled drain water drawn from the two sewerage treatment plants near Hussainssagar. Idols up to eight feet can be immersed in this tank. As on Saturday 5,898 idols have been immersed in nine lakes.
This Vinayakasagar on Necklace Road has a size of 43X43 sq.mts. It was built at a cost of Rs 67 lakh. GHMC commissioner Dr B. Janardhan Reddy said that comprehensive arrangements have been made for immersions all along the route of the Ganesh procession from Balapur, Charminar, Santoshnagar, Malakpet, Abids and Mojhamjahi Market.
The GHMC has installed mobile toilets, additional streetlights and all basic facilities for people who participate in the procession on September 15. Special Ganesh action teams have been arranged for every 3-4 km to look after sanitation, street sweeping and garbage removal. The urban bio-diversity wing has already taken up cutting of tree branches, pruning of trees on the procession route, removal of stagnant water and repairing of roads on the procession route. It has also taken up repairing of potholes and recarpeting of roads and has provided temporary lighting at all required locations for the convenience of the public.
