Telangana to model Ambedkar statue on park in Sikkim
Hyderabad: The TS government will model its proposed 125-ft tall BR Ambedkar statue in NTR Gardens near the Secretariat on the Buddha Park of Ravangla in Sikkim. A committee of ministers on installation of the Ambedkar statue will visit Sikkim to study the 130-foot tall Buddha statue for the purpose.
The TS government has decided to unveil the statue on April 14, 2017 as part of Ambedkar’s 126th birth anniversary celebrations. The committee had also examined the statue of Ramanujaswamy being installed by Tridandi Chinajeeyarswamy and also the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Gujarat before taking a decision on the shape of the Ambedkar statue planned in Hyderabad.
The committee is leant to have zeroed in on Ravangla model in Sikkim where the tallest Buddha statue and park have been set up at a cost of Rs 40 crore on the occasion of the 2550th birth anniversary of Gautam Buddha.
The committee will tour Sikkim for three days from September 11 to 13 and meet the officials and engineers who executed the project. The committee will seek technical expertise from the Sikkim government for executing the Ambedkar project in Hyderabad and develop it as an iconic structure in the city.
