Poor lighting tops woes list on GHMC app
Hyderabad: The “My GHMC” app has crossed one lakh downloads and analysis of the data received shows that the biggest problem that most residents face is poor street lighting. So far, 625 complaints filed through the app have not been attended to and GHMC said it had issued memos to six officers for not taking action on the complaints.
Out of 10,877 complaints, dysfunctional streetlights and lack of streetlights topped the list with 2,262, followed by open manholes or no manhole covers with 1,782 complaints. The third highest number complaints, at 1,453, were about potholes.
Most complaints were received from Kukatpally Circle 14 A and B, Serilin
gampally, Secunderabad and Khairatabad areas where civic problems persist. Mr A.V. Ravi Kumar, a resident of Anandnagar Colony, Khairatabad, whose complaint hadn’t been attended to, said, “Street lights on the main road at Anandnagar Colony between Medplus Pharmacy and Anand Bazaar have not working since two months.”
GHMC additional commissioner, IT wing, Suroendra Mohan said when a grievance is registered on the app, it is directed to the officer concerned. Even if the officer has failed to see the complaint, the staff calls the officer and gives the details of the complaint.
