Bhubaneswar: Union urban development minister Vankaiah Naidu on Saturday said the Centre had not committed any mistake by granting fund to Polavaram multi-purpose dam project being constructed by Andhra Pradesh government over Godavari river.
Mr Naidu, who was here to attend a CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) conclave organised by an Odia news channel, told reporters that the Supreme Court, which is hearing a petition filed by the Odisha government had not stopped the Centre for granting funds for the multi-irrigation project.
“It may be noted that the SC has never stopped the Centre from granting fund for Polavaram project. After all, the project has been finalised following necessary clearances by appropriate authorities,” Mr Naidu said.
The BJD, however, reacted to Mr Naidu’s remark, saying the minister’s observation was untrue.
