BS Yeddyurappa: Siddaramaiah erred in filing affidavit
BENGALURU: State BJP president B. S. Yeddyurappa came down heavily on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for releasing Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu.
Addressing his party’s OBC morcha meeting here on Saturday, Mr. Yeddyurappa held Mr Siddaramaiah solely responsible for the water crisis.
The state government volunteered to release 10,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu through its affidavit in the Supreme Court, a move which was a great error on the part of the government, he added.
The former chief minister charged that releasing water to Tamil Nadu, both Mr Siddaramaiah and water resources minister were passing the buck to the state legal team. Instead of offering to release water to Tamil Nadu, the state government should have submitted an affidavit listing ground realities and low water storage levels in four reservoirs in the Cauvery basin, Mr. Yeddyurappa added.
He also criticized the state government for failing to handle the drought situation. The government has not bothered about providing drinking water and fodder to live stock, he added.
