Vijayawada: There are around 1,250 Urban MeeSeva Workers who are working at the Government centres, operating through service providers, and have been demanding to merge the MeeSeva Centres with the Ward Secretariats to improve the services.
Before the announcement of the Village Secretariats’ policies, the Urban MeeSeva leaders represented Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and minister for IT Gautam Reddy to maintain the Urban MeeSeva centres as the buildings and the infrastructure belongs to the government and the agencies have been getting profit.
Chief Minister’s adviser Ajeya Kallam also spoke to the leaders and assured them to peruse their appeal.
Later, after announcing the duty procedures of the Village and Ward Secretariats, they demanded to merge the MeeSeva services with the Ward Secretariats to fulfil the complete services of the government under one roof.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, AP e-Seva (Mee) Urban Contract Employees’ Association president Nageswara Rao stated that all the Urban MeeSeva service contract employees have been working under Government and the service providers are getting benefits. He also explained that the government announced that the services of Ward Secretaries are limited to 10 departments in Urban area and it is nearly 14 departments at Village Secretariats. But the Urban MeeSevas have been providing a total number of 367 government departments’ services. Hence, the merger of Urban MeeSevas would benefit the government and also the contract employees of the urban centres.
He said that if the decision of the government will be unfavourable to us, then we would fight against their decision and said that they are expecting a good decision from the government.
Meanwhile, the franchisees of MeeSeva have expressed that they are tense and have also been demanding to treat them as the contract employees and to provide weightage in the Grama Secretariat posts and have also been demanding age relaxation to attempt the examination of Grama and Ward Secretariats.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, AP State MeeSeva Operators’ Welfare Association, working president, Adhikari Ravi Kumar stated that they already met IT minister M. Gautam Reddy and asked to provide a chance to them, by treating them as the contract employees, as they have been serving the government for the past 16 years. He also lamented that if the government closes the MeeSeva centres, then they don’t know to do any job and that their families would suffer and he appealed the government to take a decision considering the lives of the operators.
