Seasonal diseases on the rise in Adilabad
ADILABAD: The recent floods that followed the heavy rains may worsen the health situation in villages with the increasing spread of seasonal diseases due to waterlogging and mosquito breeding in the old Adilabad district.
The flood or rainwater has got mixed with the drinking water and is being used by some villages. Viral fevers, malaria, typhoid, and dengue cases are on the rise in villages in the tribal areas.
Viral fevers are also being reported from the slums in the urban areas. Recently, a Adivasi government teacher Pendore Tukaram from the Linguguda in Adilabad rural mandal died of dengue while undergoing treatment at RIMS.
Many people who have been admitted to the government and private hospitals complained of fever and headache.
In many places, flood water entered the villages in low lying areas in the Kumarambheem Asifabad and Adilabad district. Water logging has caused a outbreak of seasonal diseases which is spreading due to poor sanitation and contamination of water. The panchayat raj department has to focus on sanitation and take preventive measures in the villages to avoid the spread of seasonal diseases.
Meanwhile, municipal staff have started fogging the government schools and hostels to stop the breeding of mosquitoes and the same will continue in other places in the towns in old Adilabad district.
