Begumpet suicide blast case: Verdict puts Satyanarayana's wife down

The family was promised a house, which is yet to be fulfilled.

HYDERABAD: Aligate Lakshmi, the wife of Satyanarayana, who was killed in the suicide blast, said that despite waiting for more than a decade, the verdict has given the family severe pain. She has appealed to the government to take necessary steps to punish the accused by moving the higher court.

Ms Lakshmi said that she was hopeful that the accused will get punished. She noted that soon after the blast took place many people flocked to her house with promises. However none of them kept their words. “My three kids were young then. I worked as a tailor to support the family and brought them up. It was a hard journey all these years. After many requests, my son got a job.” she said.

Satyanarayana’s two sons —Sandeep Kumar and Dileep Kumar —are working as home guards, while his daughter, Akhila, got married recently.

Sandeep was selected as a home guard in 2007, while his brother Dileep was given a job on the compassionate grounds by the department.

The family also received Rs 5 lakh as compensation. However, the family was also promised a house, which is yet to be materialised.

“Nobody can give us back our father. But it would have been a great relief for us, if the accused were punished,” said Sandeep, who is now posted as home guard in the DGP office.
