No role in kidnap bid: BS Yeddyurappa's aide tells police

Yeddyurappa said he has no role in the kidnap bid and was shocked when he heard about his name being linked to the case,an official said.

Bengaluru: The police interrogated Santhosh, the personal assistant (PA) and relative of former chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, for more than six hours on Thursday, as part of its investigation into the recent attempt to kidnap Vinay, the PA of BJP leader K.S. Eshwarappa. Santhosh’s role was suspected in the case and the police were trying to pick him up, following which he had approached court and obtained anticipatory bail fearing arrest. It is learnt that during the questioning Santhosh had claimed that he was shocked that his name was linked to a case and he had absolutely no role.

He appeared before ACP of Malleswaram Sub Division Anand Badiger and other officers around 10.30 am.

It is learnt that the police asked him more than 50 questions that focused more on Santhosh’s nexus with thesome of the accused in the case.

“He said that he was close to the complainant in this case, Vinay, and also with BJP Yuva Morcha Bengaluru unit’s General Secretary Rajendra Urs, a suspect in the case. He claimed that they all were in constant touch as they worked together for the party. Further, he said he has no role in the kidnap bid and was shocked when he heard about his name being linked to the case,” an official said. The police reportedly questioned him about a CD, which is said to the reason for the entire episode. But Santhosh claimed he was unaware of the CD they were talking about.
