Telangana government sets up sub-panel on districts
Hyderabad: The TS government has expedited creation of new districts. A five-member Cabinet subcommittee was constituted on Wednesday which will submit its report on the issue within a week. Deputy Chief Minister Md. Mahmood Ali, who holds the revenue portfolio, was named chairman of the subcommittee. Other members of the committee are Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari, ministers Etela Rajender, Tummala Nageswara Rao and Jupally Krishna Rao. Special Chief Secretary, Revenue, is the convener of the committee while the CCLA will act as secretary.

Though Mr Rao approved 24 districts which incidentally add up to his lucky number 6 (4+2) as per numerology, the Cabinet subcommittee has been asked to make specific recommendations on this too to avoid legal complications in future. According to Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma, the subcommittee will decide (a) number of districts (b) interim arrangements for functioning of districts (c) infrastructural arrangements, including office accommodation (d) recommend guidelines for employees’ allocation among zones and any further suggestions on zonal system under Presidential Orders (e) Suggest broad guidelines for reorganising departments for the new districts (f) any other specific issues the committee may determine.
