BENGALURU: Chief Secretary Arvind Jadhav on Wednesday inaugurated the Bengaluru city and Bengaluru rural district Anti-corruption Bureau at Khanija Bhavan on Race course road.

During his address, Additional General of Police of ACB K.V. Gagandeep said, “As of now 1061 petitions have been received since ACB came into existence. We have booked over 27 cases and 21 people have been arrested.”

While 246 petitions were received in Bengaluru city alone, out of which 6 cases have been booked and seven arrested. The sleuths have registered two cases in Bengaluru Rural division, five in Mysuru, three in Dakshina Kannada, two in Kalaburagi and one each in Kolar, Ramanagara, Mandya and Chikkamagaluru districts, he added.

“ACB will not be filing cases that are anonymous. But will consider the details of the complaint to cross-check the details and will register the complaint if it is necessary. ACB units have been set up at all district headquarters and about 70% of the staff has been recruited. Measures would be taken to fill up vacant posts,” Gagandeep added.

The ACB sleuths investigate government officer’s involved in corruption. The accused are interrogated, arrested and produced before the courts within 24 hours.
