Visakhapatnam: The low-pressure area over coastal south Odisha, north Andhra Pradesh and neighborhood now lay over Northwest Bay of Bengal off the Odisha coast with the associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 7.6km above the mean sea level, tilting southwestwards with considerable height.
“It is very likely to become more marked during the next 48 hours,” IMD Amaravati said on Monday.
The monsoon trough now passes through Jaisalmer, Kota, Guna, Damoh, Pendra Road, Balangir, centre of Low-Pressure Area over northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha coast and thence southeastwards to East Central Bay of Bengal, it extending up to 1.5km above mean sea level.
Under its influence, heavy to very heavy rain is likely at isolated places over Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, Yanam and West Godavari districts of NCAP. Heavy rain is likely at isolated places over Vizianagaram district and Krishna district.
On July 14 and July 15, heavy to very heavy rain is likely at isolated places over Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam districts of NCAP.
The report said squally weather with wind speed reaching 45-55kmph gusting to 65kmph is likely along and off the coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea till July 16.
Chief Amounts of rainfall (3cm and above) recorded on Monday: Chintur (Alluri district) 9cm, Nuzvid ( Krishna) 4, Kukunoor (West Godavari) 4, Vararamachandrapur (East Godavari) 3, Velairpad (West Godavari) 3 and Kunavaram (East Godavari) 3cm.
