Poll notice after 15th: Telangana State Election Commission

The State Election Commissioner asked the civic body chiefs to publish the final voters list on July 14 and make the lists available to all.

Hyderabad: The Telangana State Election Commission (SEC) on Wednesday asked municipal commissioners to make necessary arrangements for holding elections for 129 municipalities and three municipal corporations — Karimnagar, Nizama-bad and Ramgundam.

The State Election Commission has also indicated that a notification for the elections to urban local bodies could be issued on any day after July 15.

State Election Commis-sioner V. Nagireddy said this while addressing a training programme for the commissioners of municipal bodies on the arrangements required to hold the elections to the urban local bodies.

While reviewing the preparation of voter lists and division of wards, the State Election Comm-issioner asked the civic body chiefs to publish the final voters list on July 14 and make the lists available to all political parties. On the same day, they have to prepare the list of polling booths in each of the civic body.

Stating that due to the court cases, there was some delay in holding the elections, the commissioner informed that the Telangana High Court has asked the SEC to hold the timely elections to the urban local bodies.

He asked the commissioners to hold the meetings with all political parties on Thursday in their respective local bodies. He said that training will conducted to the municipal commissioners again on July 12.
