BS Yeddyurappa to the rescue after Sudhakar spouse alert

BJP leaders spar with Congmen to get legislator out of Soudha.

Bengaluru: Several BJP legislators rushed to Vidhana Soudha to rescue Congress MLA Dr K Sudhakar minutes after he quit his membership of the Assembly and was whisked away to the office of industries minister K J George by his party leaders, resulting in a heated argument between leaders of both parties, on Wednesday.

The drama unfolded after Dr Sudhakar's wife made an SOS call to state BJP chief B S Yeddyurappa about her husband reportedly manhandled by Congress leaders and workers as he left the office of Speaker K R Ramesh Kumar after submitting his resignation letter. BJP MLAs, led by Madhuswamy, Basavaraj Bommai, V. Somanna, M.P. Renukacharya and others have rushed to Vidhana Soudha demanded the security personnel to open Mr George's office. Mr Madhuswamy also staged a protest in front of CLP leader Mr Siddaramaiah when he arrived to speak with Dr Sudhakar in Mr George's office. Other BJP legislators criticized Speaker Mr Ramesh Kumar for not offering protection to Dr Sudhakar. At one point, urban development minister U T Khader and BJP leader Mr M P Renukacharya were involved in a verbal duel with the former accusing the latter of manhandling Dr Sudhakar.

Soon, a scuffle ensued between some BJP leaders and policemen who arrived to evict them from the corridors of Vidhana Soudha. They also resorted to sloganeering against Congress leaders for allegedly roughing up the MLA from Chikkaballapur even though he quit on his own volition.
