Telangana government gets notice for Kakatiya

The bench granted three weeks to the respondents to file their counter-affidavits.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday issued notices to the Telangana state government and its authorities on a suo motu PIL seeking action against the authorities of the irrigation department and the contractors for claiming the bills in the name of Mission Kakatiya Phase I and Phase II for the works which were completed since 2012 to 2015 in Ramaiahpalli and Rajapur villages of Peddapally district.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Thottathil Bhaskaran Nair Radhakrishnan and Justice Ramesh Ranganathan was dealing the PIL based on the letter by Kannuri Karnakar, a resident of Bhudavarampeta village of the district, to the Chief Justice of the High Court.

He stated that the repair works of Titturla Kunta Tank, Vura Cheruvu and Rajapur Vura Cheruvu were completed under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme before 2015 and bills were also paid, but recently the authorities, with collusion of the contractors, again claimed more than Rs 70 lakh under the Mission Kakatiya.

The bench granted three weeks to the respondents to file their counter-affidavits.
