Haritha Haram 4th phase to begin soon
HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao will kickstart the fourth phase of the flagship programme of the state government Haritha Haram soon from Bhupalpalli district. Rao had set a target of 100 crore saplings in this round of Haritha Haram. Towards this, the State Government had decided to set up a nursery in every village and is spreading awareness on the benefits of Haritha Haram among students.
“To enhance awareness about Haritha Haram among students, we should encourage schools to organise essay writing and other competitions. The state cultural department can take up meetings of poets and writers on Haritha Haram’s benefits in addition to organising several art forms. This is the right time for plantation as it’s already raining across the state,” chief secretary S.K. Joshi said.
“We can also replace dead plants with fresh saplings. We have to take measures to protect plants as works on Mission Bhagiratha are under progress.” However, it’s observed that only 80 crore saplings have been planted as against the target of 230 crore in four years. In a review meeting held on Haritha Haram, Dharani project, Swachh Bharat, land acquisition, etc., Joshi said the officials concerned should ensure participation from all quarters of the society, including school students in all the government programmes.
